9th June 2022: We are happy to announce, release and support public HTML Editor projects for all our users on the free and paid plans
.
This has been on our roadmap since 2021, but we could not deliver early on due to specific concerns about user privacy and security — especially in terms of preventing XSS attacks like session hijacking since we use same origin iframes.
So far, with the good results in testing and functionality, we believe the time is right to start officially supporting public user-generated HTML Editor projects.
This also marks the release of a new version v2022
of the HTML Editor as we have introduced many major improvements to its core functionality, including UI updates (font sizes, buttons), UX changes (element highlighting, alerts and notifications) and the API middleware.
Yes. This feature release and update is free for all users of PageSection. Sign-in and upload your own custom HTML template to edit online. Or check out the live demo below (no login required) and do some quick testing.
Previously, the only public HTML Editor projects (also called "editable HTML templates") that you could use were those provided by our website.
You may have noticed projects with a "0-
" in the web URL link just like in this live demo.
All the other uploaded user-generated projects were private, and required users to login before editing a "non-official" project.
This was due to security reasons as we wanted to reduce the risk presented by non-official editable templates to other users. But with this update, users now have the option to enable public access to any of their uploaded HTML Editor projects for other online users to access, edit, copy, save, download, et cetera. Other users will not be required to login for access to edit your public HTML Editor projects.
Now we can allow various users e.g. teachers, web developers, companies/organizations, YouTubers, bloggers, and many more to create, share and distribute custom editable HTML templates that can be accessed by any other user on the web using the HTML Editor by PageSection. You can also get started today with our selection of free HTML templates.
This will also help us boost growth and success for our online services as user-generated content tends to attract users faster than official content. Hopefully we can keep up with the demands and down-sides of public user content such as content moderation. We reserve the right to remove any (public project) content that we deem harmful to other users, so try and be civil.
You can only change access rights to a project stored in your user account. This means you cannot change access to another user's project unless you save your own copy into your own user account.
Simply upload a zip file containing HTML, CSS, JavaScript web project files, and you will receive web links to view or edit the project using PageSection. Follow the steps below or contact the support team via email support@pagesection.com in case of any queries. We hope you find this information useful. Cheers.
